Montgomery County Police are now in the running for releasing what could possibly be the worst police sketch of the year.

Montgomery County Police Detectives finally announced this week that they were ready to release their police sketch artist’s depiction of two of the five suspects from the September 22 robbery of an Exxon on Veirs Mill Road. They also announced that they believe three of the suspects were also involved in a September 1 robbery of a food truck, also on Veirs Mill Road.

While the surveillance video from the Exxon convenience store is grainy and the suspects appear to have their faces covered, Montgomery County Police reassured the public they had a lead. At least one of the witnesses had seen two of the suspects’ faces.

With that, the police brought in their sketch artist and had the witness describe the two men they saw. After a long and arduous process, the sketch artist finally finished his masterpiece and revealed two of the men that police were hunting…

When I saw this, I almost spit up my coffee and I wasn’t even drinking any.

I get that the work of a police sketch artist is a thankless job and they often don’t have a lot to work with when witnesses have questionable memories. But with that said, these two sketches are just really, really… bad.

Who knows, maybe the Exxon and food truck on Veirs Mill Road was robbed by someone with abnormally close-together eyes and a curly-haired bandit who always looks like he’s squinting at the sun. And if this truly is their complexion, whatever sentence they receive should also include a mandatory trip to the prison’s dermatologist.

Even with such a sketchy sketch, police are still holding out hope that someone will see these two custom characters straight out of The Sims 2 and recognize them.

If this police sketch ends up being completely spot-on and you recognize these two suspects, please call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5100. You can also remain anonymous by calling the Crime Solvers of Montgomery County’s toll-free hotline at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).

Crime Solvers will also pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest in this case and, if this sketch truly is as off as it looks, there might also be an opening for a Montgomery County police sketch artist soon…

Then again, this police sketch released by Loudoun County Police in Virginia may actually be the worst sketch ever. You decide!
