The Hershey Company has decided to add a new flavor to its candy bar lineup after 20 years, but it won’t be chocolate.

It may have been over 20 years for The Hershey Company to introduce a new flavor for its famous candy brand line. The new candy bar launch coincides with an important world event: the 2018 Winter Olympics, which will be held in PyeongChang County, South Korea. The new flavor, “Hershey’s Gold Caramelized Creme Peanuts & Pretzels,” will be available in retailers nationwide, starting on December 1, 2017. There will be a 1.4 ounce sized bar and a 2.5 ounce, King-sized bar available.

“The buttery, sweet taste of Hershey’s Gold bars provides an entirely new way for consumers to enjoy our brand,” Melinda Lewis, senior director/general manager, Hershey’s Franchise at The Hershey Company, said in press release. “The launch of Hershey’s Gold will introduce Americans to a new flavor and a new experience unlike any others before.”

Caramelized creme is the “mostly-sugar-non-dairy-white-stuff filling in Oreo cookies,” according to CNN Money. Hershey turns the white creme gold by browning the sugar inside, which gives it that sweet and buttery taste.

The first Hershey’s (milk) chocolate bar, which was introduced in 1900, started the entire Hershey bar line. The (Special Dark) chocolate bar was then introduced in 1939, and ultimately led to a progression to the White Creme (Cookies ‘n Creme) bar that was introduced in 1995. And now, the new (Hershey’s Gold) Caramelized Creme Peanuts & Pretzels is making history!
