We’ve gathered our favorite Halloween TV episodes to get you in the holiday spirit!

We’ve covered the classic horror movies to get you ready for Halloween, but what about TV episodes? Don’t they deserve some love, too? Check out our list of the 10 best Halloween TV episodes, and see if your favorites made the cut!

Please note, the shows listed below are in no particular order and have been selected based on personal preference.

The Office | “Halloween”

Season: 2
Air Date: October 18, 2005

In The Office‘s first Halloween episode, Michael Scott is under pressure from corporate to fire someone, which puts a lull on the Halloween party. As to be expected, the costumes are as crazy as the show’s characters. Between Michael’s paper mache second head and Dwight’s Emperor from Star Wars, it’s a fun episode!

Boy Meets World | “And Then There Was Shawn”

Season: 5
Air Date:
February 27, 1998

While this episode may have aired in February, it’s got plenty of Halloween scares to make it on the list. The gang become locked in the school all by themselves, or so they think. It’s a wild episode, with I Know What You Did Last Summer‘s Jennifer Love Hewitt making a guest appearance as the appropriately named Jennifer Love Fefferman.

Parks and Recreation | “Greg Pikitis”

Season: 2
Air Date:
October 29, 2009

This Halloween-themed episode pits Leslie Knope against her arch-nemesis, Greg Pikitis, a reckless teenager who makes it his goal to mess with Leslie and the Parks Department. She makes it her mission to beat Greg before he gets to the statue of Mayor Percy and vandalizes it.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer | “Fear Itself”

Season: 4
Air Date:
October 26, 1999

Buffy always had fun, monster-filled episodes, with a Halloween story happening every two seasons. While the first two are both crucial to your Halloween viewing, I won’t be including them on this list. (If you’re interested, the other episodes are “Halloween” from Season 2 and “All the Way” from Season 6). This episode takes place during the Scooby Gang’s first year in college, and they’re invited to a frat party where the house comes to life, ultimately trapping everyone inside.

Castle | “Demons”

Season: 4
Air Date:
October 21, 2011

Castle and Beckett investigate the possibility of paranormal foul play when a ghost hunter is mysteriously murdered during a hunt at a New York mansion. Beckett is a skeptic, always looking at the hard facts, but Castle has fun with it and gets Beckett in on the fun, even having her say the “I ain’t afraid of no ghosts” catchphrase from Ghostbusters.

Friends | “The One With The Halloween Party”

Season: 8
Air Date:
November 1, 2001

This is the only episode in Friends‘ 10 seasons to focus on Halloween, and boy does it work. The episode finds Monica and Chandler throwing a costume party, with the latter dressed in a bubblegum pink bunny costume. And who could forget Ross’s classic “Spud-nik” costume?

Modern Family | “Halloween”

Season: 2
Air Date:
October 27, 2010

Nothing is ever boring, especially when the Dunphy family is involved. So that means Halloween is always a big affair, and when Claire needs help to run Halloween as smoothly as possible, the family begrudgingly chips in. It’s full of laughs, great one-liners, and fantastic costumes!

How I Met Your Mother | “The Slutty Pumpkin”

Season: 1
Air Date:
October 24, 2005

In the series’ first Halloween episode, the gang attends a Halloween party on the roof, one that happens every year. Ted, of course, wears the same costume just to make sure the girl he met years ago (dressed as a Slutty Pumpkin) recognizes him. That is, if she shows up. It’s a HIMYM classic!

Home Improvement | “The Haunting of Taylor House”

Season: 2
Air Date:
October 28, 1992

In true Tim Taylor fashion, Tim creates a haunted house, the “Catacombs of Terror,” in his basement for Brad’s Halloween party. Brad agrees to dress up as Raggedy Andy to his girlfriend’s Raggedy Ann, but that plan goes south when she shows up dressed up like a biker chick with another boy. It’s an episode that has stayed with me for years and continues to be a Halloween favorite.

Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place | “Two Guys, a Girl and a Psycho Halloween”

Season: 2
Air Date:
October 28, 1998

Pete and Berg (Ryan Reynolds) throw a Halloween party, but things quickly turn for the worse when Berg is kidnapped by … a psycho Berg, who is on a killing spree. Sharon, the real Berg, Pete, and Johnny all team up to see if they can defeat the evil doppelgänger before it’s too late.
